Canadian Police College providing specialized training to Abu Dhabi Police
February 26, 2018 – The Canadian Police College is pleased to announce it will be delivering specialized and advanced training to the Abu Dhabi Police. An agreement was signed on February 26, 2018, that allows for cooperation and coordination in the delivery of training in security and police sciences between the college and Abu Dhabi Police Department.
Canada and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have a broad and deep relationship with a focus on strengthening regional and global security. The new partnership focuses on the importance of training and creating opportunities within law enforcement to exchange best practices and experiences.
"The College is very excited about working and sharing knowledge with the Abu Dhabi Police," said RCMP Assistant Commissioner Barbara Fleury, Executive Director of the Canadian Police College and Centre of Excellence in Police Leadership. "It is important for law enforcement in both Canada and the UAE to find ways that further strengthen our partnership and ability to respond to regional and global threats."
Major General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police witnessed the signing of this agreement by Brigadier General Obaid Salem Al Habtali Al Ketbi, ADP Human Resources Manager and Assistant Commissioner Serge Therriault, Regional Director of the RCMP for the Middle East and Africa.
The signing ceremony was also attended by: Masud Husain, Ambassador of Canada to the UAE; Colonel Khalfan Al Kaabi, Deputy Director of the Training Department; and, Major Falah Al Qahtani, Director of the Executive Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police.
