Virtual workshop: Unconscious Bias: Understanding Bias to Unleash Potential
On March 23, the Canadian Police College (CPC), in collaboration with FranklinCovey, will offer Unconscious Bias: Understanding Bias to Unleash Potential.
The workshop will take via Zoom from 9:30 to 4 pm. Targeted to supervisors, managers and executives, it is being offered free of charge. Space is limited, so the deadline to register is March 1, 2021.
Workshop description
Bias is a natural part of the human condition, of how the brain works. It affects how we make decisions, engage with others, and respond to different situations and circumstances.
This workshop will help participants become aware of and expand their understanding of biases, cultivate meaningful connections, and choose courage to make real change. They will identify the impact of bias (either positive or negative) in their personal and professional lives.
They will also learn how to recognize and counter biases. Confronting bias takes courage, but there’s a difference between just calling people out and creating real change.
Participants will learn how to address bias through:
- courage to identify
- courage to cope
- courage to ally and
- courage to advocate
They will practice using these courage skills to address bias in workplace scenarios. Participants will leave the workshop with an action plan to address bias in their everyday work situations.
